Star Fleet 2010

Well the Flooding is still continuing, so the best we can do right now is watch and wait for where the next section is going to hit. Before Long I’m hoping that a few extra items up.. I’ve got some new art work up but not here yet, you can find it at my deviant art area http://starfleet.deviantart.com  I will try and get the updates for this site soon given this is my online resume etc also Hopefully there will soon be a show reel up, I just have to find time to let it render out.

I get asked the question on and off along with the occasional invite to join a group from people I used to PBEM with a long time ago. I’ll start by saying that PBEM these days bores me, it can and often does tend to be one person posting a decent amount (by decent i mean more then two sentances or even a paragraph) which really spoils a story.

Then there is the whole thing that 99% you have to watch what you type. I tend to type rather openly my characters tend to be fairly deep they will swear and yell abuse etc. Which well isn’t exactly allowed that often in PBEM saddly.

Lastly lets look at what i’ve helped with and what’s bitten me in the ass, for over a year I was one of the oh so high and mighty admiralty board members of BF then of course the Obsidian Fleet Split occured and because I gave them the majority of the back end story (as it was originally written) and the name etc I got bitten on the ass there my name got dragged through the mud more then once. After that certain people in OF started to takewhat was to me some actions  both with the original story and more on the admin side i didn’t like so i left there..

That in turn left some hard feelings of course with certain people.. I then went back and played with BF for a while helped out with the Admin side for a short time and got very very bored after those I simmed with on the Endeavour stopped simming.

Add to this the fact I’m a 3D artist I know most of the people making the trek meshes and I get soo very sick of hearing about who on a PBEM or the like has stolen which image today.. and you get to the point you just don’t want to do it anymore.

Remember though that several things people take for granted came out of work some of us old timers did.. the origins of the Task Force Management system (and some of the first ever CMS systems for PBEM), The Ship Personnel Management System or SPMS has some of my code and it’s name was my idea given I swore at one stage is was PMS’n , All those things had their origins with Smythe, Mouring, Nate and myself…

In the end though this site is the one thing that lives on a resource to those who I once gamed with in certain sections.

Well short trip to melbourne yestarday, not to bad.. 5am start through to about 6ish when we got home (pm).. Melbourne Uni’s vet place not that bad, Viktoria seemed to like it though it doesn’t appear she is going to easily get into it .

On the other hand it did give her info and the like. Went back through Bendigo didn’t see Kathlyn or Ivan or even see my niece, I could post a big rant here about it but I won’t instead I’ll just say that a certain person needs to grow the hell up and learn that the world don’t revolve around them and not to take everything out on other people.

Other then that hoping to get some more modelling done on the domus it’s taking a bit, but not been feeling real well. Got some driving done as well, hopefully few months have my P’s finally then I can do what ever I want.. and yeah fixed Rob’s computer for him (not me another Rob).

Anyway next post when I have something worth posting..

Oh and Catalyst games have NOT stopped publishing like some sites report. See their website for more updates.

By now most places and people are reporting on Catalyst Game Labs problems.

Most of these appear to be rumor, very very few have posted actual evidence of the constant doom and gloom that is going around on the net, the only official posting on the entire thing is the press statement at Catalyst Gaming labs own website. Other places are claiming stores have been told to cease selling products however Catalysts own main sales site of Battlecorps is still selling PDF’s of all products as are several others not to mention the fact that even if Catalyst had lost the Shadowrun and the like licenses it is actually rather improbable that they will do a cease of sales on already printed books, why is this? Because that is Not how the industry works, if a book is printed their is nothing in the laws that says you have to recall all the books, rather you try and get them to sell to get the money from having to print them.

Examples of this alone can be seen in the fact that you can still pick up books from FASA, Fanpro and even some copies of the Warhammer 40k RPG that have their ORIGINAL creators logo’s on them.

So the big one here guys, look for actual PRESS RELEASES that come from the companies rather then just rumors.

My mother and some of her university friends needed to know how to do graphs in Powerpoint.
